My Introduction to Tamagotchi

To be honest, I can't recall much about my original introduction to Tamagotchi. I remember being very little, I believe it was the summer of 2005 and the Tamagotchi V2 was in stores. My dad, my older sister and I were at a Walmart Neighborhood Market near our house and my dad was getting my older sister two Tamagotchi V2's, so I also begged for some (lol). I don't remember the shells that my older sister got, but the two shells I got were the Green Camo and White Camo (my dad wouldn't let me pick any shells that weren't 'for boys' :eyeroll:) We had also each gotten a Gotchi Gear Lanyard and I still have my Mametchi Lanyard even now, but I’m getting off topic. x)

I remember then getting bored of them after a while and putting them in my toy box, leaving them alone. Later on, maybe the next day when I remembered and looked to check on them, one of them had turned into Whaletchi! (I know Whaletchi is the very worst care adult on the V2, but he was my very first adult Tamagotchi and I've had a soft spot for him ever since. He's not my favorite but he's in the top 5 for sure.) I don't remember which shell it was that had turned into Whaletchi though, and I don't remember what the other one had turned into, if it even survived my toy box haha.

Sadly that is not where my Tamagotchi craze began, as I became disinterested in the two I had and lost them to time. Where my Tamagotchi craze REALLY began was in 2008, when I got my Zebra Print V3. I don't remember how I got it, where I got it, I think it might have even been a second-hand gift or a hand-me-down, but around the same time I got the V3 I was introduced to the internet and found Mimitchi.com. The combination of getting the V3 and reading Mimitchi's blogs firmly planted the Tamagotchi seed that has been rooted in me to this day. I still have the Zebra Print V3 I got back in 2008, but it has gone through many changes. I took it around everywhere and played with it so much that the black stripes completely wore off and it became an almost fully-white shell. I've since attempted to repaint it 4 or 5 times, but every single attempt has ended with something going wrong (paint crusting/chipping, not setting, gloss coats messing up, clay additions falling off, etc.) I actually ended up finding a replacement shell and painting that instead, and have not had any issues since. The original shell sits in a drawer, waiting to be painted again one day.

But with all of that being said, I've been an enjoyer of Tamagotchi for 20 years and an avid collector for 17+! I hope to be around for many more. :)
